Majority of the male and female sexual disorders in the world are based physically though there are some who blames it in psychological cause. Either of the two can still result in distress. An individual who has sexual dysfunction will definitely suffer and experience related anxieties, and disappointment which leads to depression. Because of sexual dysfunctions, relationships may undergo stress and conflict may arise in the family. There are a lot of reported sexual dysfunctions in the world and here are the twelve (12) recognized sexual dysfunctions:

  1. Hypoactive Sexual Disorder. Lost your appetite for sex? If so, you might be under Hypoactive Sexual Disorder (HSD). In this kind of disorder, either of the sexual partners has lack of sexual fantasies and desire for a sexual activity. Some believed that this is a simple result of another psychological disorder but this is considered a sexual disorder if it contributes distress or predicament in the relationship of the involve persons. Sexual partners should be able to identify this kind of disorder before it causes problem within the relationship and consulting a psychologist might be helpful to resolve or at least lessen the crisis.
  2. Sexual Aversion Disorder. Not due to psychological cause, this kind of sexual disorder is comparable to Hypoactive Sexual Disorder where a sexual partner is hesitant or avoids genital sexual contact. A physical reason of this kind of disorder starts from hormonal regulation. These people lack all interest in sexual contact due to absence of some substance in their bodies.
  3. Female Sexual Arousal Disorder. When females approach the menopausal age, they tend to loss their interest in sex. At this age, they are insufficient of lubrication especially during sexual activity.
  4. Male Erectile Disorder. This is the most common or known sexual dysfunction of male species. If the male sexual partner is unable to achieve erection or sustain an erection once it has occurred, then he might be under male erectile disorder.common-dysfunction-2.jpg
  5. Female Orgasmic Disorder. This is a disorder for females who are experiencing a long delay or the absence of orgasm during the practice of sexual activity.
  6. Male Orgasmic Disorder. Similar to Female Orgasmic Disorder, this problem is also cause by long delay or the absence of orgasm after a normal excitation, erection and adequate stimulation.
  7. Premature Ejaculation. This kind of disorder is describes as the regular, early ejaculation with minimal sexual stimulation before or shortly after a penetration. With this kind of disorder, a person ejaculates earlier than he expected – before, during or just right after his first penetration.
  8. Dyspareunia. Not due to Vaginismus, this illness is distinguished with regular pain in genital areas associated with sexual intercourse in either male or female.
  9. Vaginismus. This is a common type of dyspareunia casued by forceful involuntary contraction of the perineal muscles surrounding the outer one third of the vagina.
